I hope to see in the run of the time following races beign playable:
Start of GW2:
Human
Charr
Sylvari (which look like Dryads and Dryads are Wood Nymphs for those fools, that don't know, what Nymphs are and anyone who played through EotN can imagine, that the Tree at the End Vid will be the Source of Life for the Sylvari, taking up the mythology trivia as concept about the Tree of Life Yggdrasill maybe)
Asura (hopefully they make them in GW2 a bit smaller, more gnome size, in GW2, in GW1 they look way too big and are as near a big like dwarfs and look more like poor wannabe-dwarfs, which should comfort us about the lack of Dwarfs not being playable in GW1, only cause of all these dumb retarded LotR/ WoW idiots, which QQ rivers instantly, whenever they hear the word Dwarf, auditioning to see in GW2 automatically only a LotR/WoW clone, if GW2 should receive dwarfs as playable race >.<)
At least then the image of the Asuras would come over much better as tiny creatures
Norn (those I'd love to see for the sake of the games concepts also reconcepted or the Dervish Profession, one of that, but better both together)
*****
*****
*****
With 1st Add On (coming say every 1 year after release of the core game)
- Tengu (unable to fly Bird hybrid)
- Krait (Lizard hybrid)
- Centaur (Horse Hybrid) hopefully they change the design of them, Centaurs are no fugly goat bastards
will find the way to the game
with 2nd Add On:
- Harpy (able to fly Bird Hybrid, but unlike Tengus more Human looking than Bird)
- Undine (Amphibious Fish Hybrid)
- Fairy (able to fly non perma winged asura sized elvish looking creatures)
will find the way into the game
With 3rd Add on will find the last races to the game
- Mursaat (floating Demons)
- Dwarf
- Elb/Drow (Elfs - Light and Dark ones)
this way GW2 would have a good mix between traditional playable races and unique own races, so that for every taste is something under. Everythign else not mentioned is just too either unintelligent to be a playable race in GW2, has so or so no civilization due to living alone and coming only together for f**** like animals or other uninterestign reasons, like that certain races look in games better, as dumb monsters, that you slay down in masses like Goblins, Trolls, Ogres, Orcs, Minotaurs, Nagas, Werwolfes, Vampires ect. pp.
and the fact, that Elfs/Dwarfs would come with the last Add On, i think is a good compromise for all those QQ'ers and doesnt destroy the hope of traditional players to play their most beloved races also too in the world of GW2, because in the end its still the choice of everyone self, as what you want to play.
only because Race X or Y exists in a game, doesn't mean ,that anyone will force you to play them, when you have a certain amount of other possible choices, which would be gameplaywise exactly the same, just different looks and "maybe" having only other pve only race skills, than other races, which all professions of that race could use, but having nothign under them ,that would be somewhat of overpowered, that certain races would be taken more often, than others.
In the end if would be 11 Unique playable races over 3 tradiational more or less "hated" ones, wherefrom of the 11 unique playable races are only 3 traditional creatures, that are in very much other MMO's no playable races, which are
-Centaur
-Harpy
-Fairy
I think this is really a fair ratio and the argument of not playing elfs,/dwarfs, when you don't like them, because nobody forces you to do so, is completely valid.
Also I think, its for a game better, if you give it more playable races over playable professions, because then the game will look full of life, but alone the fact that we get charr, sylvari norn and asura as playable races iwll be a big step into the right directtion to give the world of GW2 more the feeling of beign filled with life - ever seeing/playing only the same race is boring and some certain gameplay differences they should have all, but as said absolutely nothing, that manipulates the choice of the play to create only race x with profession Y cause of any total imba featutures race x got

Sorry if this is a bit off topic but...
Does anyone else here get the feeling that most of the people that are going to play Norns are going to be 12 year olds wanting to play HUGE POWERFUL WARRIORS THAT CAN "PWN" EVERYONE?

Makes sense to me... We have that already, but it's in the form of wammos parading around with Healing Hands and a set of FoW.
On a personal note I seriously want Tengu to be playable! Methinks they'll be an expansion race, though.

Well, to be fair, they do seem to fit perfectly with the warrior class. Charr and Norn are going to be two big warrior races I think. I'm even looking forward to making a norn warrior. . But then again, I also can't wait to make Sylvari monk and a Human necro, or maybe a Sylvari necro and a human monk...hmm...

I'm thinking the pretty races, Human and Silvari, will be the preferred race for kiddies and pubescent teens. (See WoW prior to a pretty race for the Horde, now with evil elves.)
The Ugly race will likely be the less superficially inclined, the minority, and outsider.

highlighted ideas are deemed fail due to no base in lore or general unplayability of the race.
edit: tengu sins would be FTW. just hope they don't lose power when out of the sun (seriously, was I the only person to watch birdman as a kid?)

Exo Facto they already made their choice. The dwarves are gone by gw2 and any attempt to change that will further weaken their standing.
The question is WHEN will we get to see whether gw2 has potential or not

We don't really know how they're going to tie races with classes, but it sure would be stupid if you HAD to play a certain race to play a certain type of character. Diversity and variety ftw.

I hate to see racial bonuses in games, as it tends to limit the customizability to a point. Norn will obviously be suited for warrior classes and Asurans will be better suited for mage classes. I just don't like the idea of seperation of race-to-class this way, as all races should be equal. That being said, a warrior-Asuran would still just be stupid (from a logic standpoint), they could be stepped on and game over.
And Phoenix, you should stop trying.

uhh rofl..
Kraits and Harpies are existing creatures in the game, like Tengus, only with the difference yet, that we saw only yet of Tengus some friendly tribes.
In NF we fight lots of Harpies, in EotN Kraits, if you didn't noticed yet >.< so don't talk such shit about the lore, when those creatures belong to the game still in some form.
GW1's lore had Dwarfs and Centaurs, 2 very well known traditional races which also belong to the soooooooo hated LotR lore, so when in GW exist Dwarfs and Centaurs, then there must live also imo logically somewhere hidden yet Fairies, Elfs and Dark Elfes.., ya when we even look at it detailed, GW has even Troll Creatures, creatures that belogn also too to the traditional lotR lore/world, to we QQ now rivers about this stupid fact, that GW has Trolls/Minotaurs in the game too ?
No, we don't because they are just dumb Monsters in GW and nothing, we can control (at least yet) really can't understand it, why so much people make such a big QQ out of it, when it goes about Dwarfs, and 2 Elf Forms, when the GW lore already contains in different non playable forms already traditional creatures of the LotRO lore
We have seen of all continents we know yet only like 30% off, because the other 70% were just dumb unexplorable map FILLER !!!
*****

Undines are my personal wished Race for GW2 from which you fool can't have yet, as nobody else any clue about, if it will be possible to give GW2 such a race, or not. Fact is, that GW2 will receive a Z-Axis and this feature will allow it maybe the Developers to create an amphibious Race, that lives very deep in the Seas. Z-Axis doesn't mean, that every shit has only to skyrocket high into the heavon, - NO !! Z-Axis also means, that 3D graphics goes below the sea level.
and Koricen: don't f*** me off... ever these 'tards, which believe to have the right to forbid others to write. Can't see these silly comments anymore >.<

The only races you listed that I could see being played in any logical sense is the Tengu or the Centaur. They have already stated why the dwarves are not going to be playable. There are no elves nor any fairies in the game from anything I have seen and the krait and frogs are just tribal animals. I don't see where all of this LotR/WoW stuff is coming from. They have nothing to do with GW or GW2 so referencing them in any way is pointless. Perhaps I am missing where you made any sense at all, as I find it quite hard to decipher your posts.
And just to let you know, I would never "f*** you off".

Playing kraits and stuff would be like Blizzard making Murlocs playable in WoW.
Sure, funny and all, but... What do you do when your race can't even speak?
And even if GW lore has classical fantasy elements to it, it is not LotR, Dungeons and Dragons or whatever.
It is GUILD WARS.
And it is supposed to have other specifications that being free to play.

With the deprecation of Dwarves following EotN, it appears to me that ArenaNet is trying to head away from the more stereotyped fantasy races (dwarves, gnomes, elves etc) and further towards their own, which are usually a little more original (to varying extents; nothing is new under the sun, but the Charr and Asura for instance are a substantial break from what you see in most games, even if the influences aren't hard to spot).
For that reason I doubt races such as elves, fairies, what-have-you will ever be added to the game. The Mursaat have been a subject of quite some debate; they have pretty much all they need to work well as a race, with the sole problem being their scarcity - we don't know how many, if any, are still left (but EotN made it clear there'd probably be a few).
The Tengu and Centaurs, on the other hand; there is no reason I can see not to eventually add them, and to be honest I would have picked them as more likely than the Asura, Norn and Sylvari myself. Oh well!

They are. The GW ones are drawn a little differently from the stereotypical depiction, though - and they're a little less common in fantasy games anyway.

Something I would like to see in GW2 is a differnet means of creating your char.
What I am reffering to is when you create your char instead of picking a race you pick the lineage, ie your parents races. For people tying a char to GW1 they would only get to chose one parents race, the other would be human.
Instead of dual classes you wind up with duall races/half breeds.
